Welcome to Montan
Montan is about 25 km in the south of Bolzano a very quiet and sunny terrace on the hillside above the village Auer (1500 inhabitants) with the hamlets Pinzon, Kalditsch, Kaltenbrunn, Glen and Gschnon. It includes the landscape with the ruin Castelfeder with its southern character and the Monte Corno Nature Park with its vast pine forests, alpine meadows and absolutely quiet corners. The village itself is surrounded by vineyards and fruit gardens: These contrasts make the big attraction of the landscape. Over 100 km of maintained hiking trails traverse the area (200-1800 m). The Dolomites are within reach, the great Dolomites round can be started from Montan.
Culture - Traditions
Worth seeing is the famous Gothic altar by Master Hans Klocker at St. Stephen's Church in Pinzon.Below Montan there is Castelfeder with ruins of prehistoric and Roman times.
In Mid-August there is the traditional concert of the Musikkapelle Montan at the courtyard of the castle Enn (12th century).
